Walking
Walking is one of the cheapest, easiest and simplest forms of transport, which is boosted by a wide range of shops and services accessible within a short walk from the development.
Bridgwater town centre benefits from a range of facilities that residents are likely to use on a day-to-day basis including Tesco express, Londis supermarket, Bridgwater hospital and Willowdown Primary School.
Walking is great exercise and most of all it is free! Walking, even for ten minutes a day can contribute to looking and feeling great. Regular walking can reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol, tones up muscles and can strengthen bones. It is excellent for losing weight or simply improving fitness levels through low impact and low intensity exercise.

Bridgwater u3a is a learning co-operative of people no longer in full-time work, which enables members to share many educational, creative and leisure activities. The walking group meets every Monday morning for walks which are about 6 miles long and are graded 1-4 with 1 being an easy walk.
Cycling
Cycling is great for the environment. It helps you to avoid traffic and congestion, as well as reducing fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Your residential development is approximately 2km north east of the National Cycle Network Route 3 which routes from Bridgwater Railway Station to destinations including Taunton, Bude and Somerton.
Cycling UK is an online platform that provides insurance, access to cycle magazine, group rides, retail discounts and more, for a small fee. It provides advice and guidance to those new to cycling or looking to gain some more confidence when commuting or leisure riding. It aims to make cycling accessible to all.
Komoot provides ready-built routes on their website that makes it easy for you to explore cycle routes within and around your locality.
The Bridgwater Way (TBW) provides information, advice and tools people can use to choose the best times to cycle and routes to use. The website offers active travel initiatives to make getting to work or school easier and safer.
Regular cycling is a great form of transport for most people because it is cheaper than other forms of transport, easy and great exercise. Bridgwater town centre benefits from a range of facilities that residents are likely to cycle to on a day-to‐day basis. The low levels of traffic and speed on routes in close proximity of the development makes it conducive for cycling. Regular cycling is great for you health because it:

The Bicycle Chain is located in Bridgwater Town Centre on Salmon Parade. Their shop is well worth a visit whether you’d like to purchase a new bike or equipment or get your bike fixed or serviced. In addition, the shop is now offering residents of Evergreen Parade a 15% discount on any accessories when you buy a bike.

Bus
Bus services provide the closest form of local public transport providing connections to Langport, Glastonbury, Taunton, Burnham-on-Sea as well as other nearby towns and villages.
The nearest bus stop from your home is the Kings Road Roundabout stop located on Kings Drive approximately a 9 minute walk. Services 62 and B1 calls at this stop providing services to Bridgwater town centre and Weston-super-Mare. For more information visit First Bus.
Services 19, 66, 375 and B1 also calls at at the Filling Station bus stop approximately a 12-munites walk south on Bath Road providing services to Axbridge, Wells and Bristol. Further information can be found by visiting Firstbus and Traveline.
Hatch Green Coaches service 16 provides services to Langport, Othery and Westonzoyland. A copy of the timetable can be found by visiting Hatch Green Coaches.
Train
Bridgwater Rail Station is approximately 20 minutes journey by bus or an 8 minutes cycle from your development.
The station offers direct services to Penzace, Weston-super-Mare, Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads.
Rail fares can vary significantly, however, booking in advance makes rail travel cheaper. There are a number of memberships and rail cards available that can help reduce the cost.

Electric Vehicles
Electric vehicles and (EVs) and plug in hybrid vehicles are becoming increasingly popular and growing at a rapid rate in the UK. According to Zapmap there are just under 1,400,000 fully electric cars in the UK at the end of January 2025. The number of charging points is growing rapidly. At the end of January 2025, there were 74,611 electric vehicle charging points across the UK.
In 2024 there were 381,970 new fully electric cars sold, which was 19.6% market share of all new cars registered that year. More fully electric cars were sold in 2024 than any other and represented 21% more than in 2023.

Reducing the need to travel to work or while at work can save time and money while benefiting the environment. If you work from home just once a fortnight you are reducing your commute by 10%, which saves you both time and money.
Working from home one or more days per week is beneficial to the environment through reduced car based commuting and congestion, so if you are able and it works for you it would be good to continue doing it.

Supermarkets also provide home shopping delivery options in the local area including Asda, Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s, M&S foodhall and Tesco Express. A lot of clothes, shoes, toys and goods retailers also offer online shopping services, with deliveries to your home address, local post offices or even local grocery shops; depending on the retailers preference.
